25th Navajo Nation Council Delegate Helena Nez Begay - Summer Sessions Trail Ride
25th Navajo Nation Council Delegate Helena Nez-Begay embarked on a horse trail ride from Summit to the Navajo Nation Fairgrounds in Window Rock, Arizona. Delegate Nez-Begay, who represents Bodaway/Gap, Tonalea, Coppermine, LeChee, and K'aibii'to, wants everyone to know the significance of these summer session trail rides.
These rides are a tribute to the Navajo elders and previous leaders who traveled on horseback and in wagons to reach Window Rock. It’s a way to honor and remember their journeys and the legacy they have left behind. This year, Delegate Nez-Begay participated in the 2024 trail ride on her 30-year-old horse! See what Delegate Helena Nez-Begay has to say about the 2024 summer sessions, and what the trail ride means to her.
