2024 Navajo Nation Code Talkers Day Highlight Reel
We're honored to share our video recap of the incredible 2024 Navajo Nation Code Talkers Day in Window Rock, Arizona. Alex Greenstein introduces this special event, where we had the privilege to see Peter McDonald, one of the last three living Code Talkers from WWII and a former Tribal Chairman of the Navajo Nation. For those who might not know, the Navajo Nation Code Talkers were a group of brave Navajo men who played a crucial role during World War II. They developed and used a code based on the Navajo language, which was never broken by the enemy. This code was vital in transmitting secure military communications during some of the most critical battles in the Pacific Theater, including Iwo Jima. Their contributions not only helped secure victory for the Allies but also brought immense pride to the Navajo Nation and their families. This day was filled with powerful moments, including speeches from many Navajo Nation leaders, Arizona and New Mexico state officials, and multiple generals, including Lieutenant General Michael Cederholm, a 3-star general in the USMC. The presence of Code Talker memorabilia, photos, and medals presented by surviving family members added to the poignant atmosphere. We also had the chance to greet Kari Lake, U.S. Senate candidate for Arizona, and Eli Crane, U.S. Representative for Arizona's 2nd Congressional District. 🏛️ Veterans shared their stories at the podium, and seeing Peter McDonald hoisted onto the stage in his wheelchair by the Marines was a truly unforgettable moment. Watch the full reel and relive this incredible day with us! 🎖️
